Brazil, Santa Maria, A total of 233 people were killed in a fire at a night club in the south of Brazil on Sunday (27/1) cause a panic visitors and blocking the exit.
Most Victims died of strangulation toxic fumes that filled the room crowded after sparks from firefoxs used for visual effects lick bands roof soundproof room, said the officer told reuters.
"Smoke immediately filled the room, the heat was unbeareable. Could people find the only way out," said the visitor who survived, Murilo Thiescher.
"They go to the toilet because he thought it was a way out, and some died there," said the student's Faculty of Medicine.
Firefighter said one exit was locked and visitors who seek to escape the club actually blocking the way out there.
In Santa Maria, the most prosperous city in Brazil with more then 275,000 people, rescue workers and officials who are tired to tears with family and friends of those in the sports hall is used as a temporary storage of bodies. "This is the saddest, saddest of my life," said Neusa Soares, mother Viviane Tolio Soares(22) who died in the incident.
"I never thought I should life to go see my daughter," he said.
The incident made the President of Brazil Dilma Rousseff cut the time of his visit to chile and flew to Santa Maria. He wept as he spoke with the families of victims, mostly student.
RIA Novosti news agency reported on Monday President Dilma Rousseff declared three days of morning after the tragedy which his touted as the most deadly club fire after a discotheque in China fire that killed 309 people in 2000.
